Hosted Ride Farm Stay Trail Riding Experience with your Horse

Grab some friends or come alone … we will make you feel welcome and at home.

Trail Riders of Victoria Inc. (TRV) offers a unique experience for riders and their horses only 90 minutes from Melbourne. TRV is nestled in the picturesque Strath Valley with Yea is to the east, Kinglake is to the south and Broadford to the west. From high points in the area it is easy to see why the surrounding area is referred to as The Valley of 1,000 Hills.

TRV guests are welcomed to Hillcrest Homestead, a farmhouse originally built for a large pioneering family, by TRV members and Ride Leaders. In winter you will settle into a warm cozy environment fuelled by a crackling fireplace. Summer allows us to enjoy the garden with the faint babble from the Strath Creek in the background amongst the flutter of King Parrots.

The first thing to do is choose a bunk for yourself and a pen or paddock for your horse. While the horses settle, we all have time to chat and enjoy nibbles and a few drinks before settling down to the evening meal. The meals are home cooked and tasty. Friday afternoon and evening is a good time to socialise, get to know each other a little and discuss the rides.

The ride to the top of the world is one of our
more advanced rides, with the most amazing
views … not to be missed.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided, so all guests need to do is relax and tend to their horses. We do not provide feed for horses. There are two showers and toilets to choose from and there are two spacious lounges and a games room. The spacious dining room can seat over 20 and there is more table room in the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped.

Outside there are a few paddocks to choose from and some pens. If there are any doubts about the etiquette of a particular horse, the horses can be separated into pens or different paddocks by their owners when needed.

There are so many trail riding experiences to be had in close proximity to Hillcrest. The landscape is vast and ever-changing. The Valley of 1000 Hills offers rides suitable for beginners to advanced riders. We do our best to match the experience to the riders on the day. The Cheviot Tunnel is suitable for all levels so it is a regular experience during our Hosted Rides. The rides are always hosted by our experienced ride leaders with many years of trail riding experience.

Hosted Rides are a great way to enjoy trail riding, whether you are experienced or new to trails. Trail riding is something all people of all ages can enjoy with their horses.
